Welcome to Every48!


Every48 is your daily workout inspiration blog. If you’re looking for a reason to get out there and get after it, Every48 has you covered.

This project started life as the 2014 blog project for the  Wellness Playbook, my speaking and consulting company dedicated to bringing solid health and wellness tools to organizations and communities, but I have a feeling it’s going to be around for quite a while. Your comments, encouragement and contributions have been incredible. Many thanks to my readers and supporters for all of your kind words – and your sweat!

A bit about me: My name is Nicole and I’m a health, sports and fitness journalist, a weight loss success story, and a passionate advocate for all that is truly healthy in this world: farmer’s markets, backyard gardens, learning how to be a kitchen ninja, and yes, affordable universal health care for all. At Every48, I’m blogging my own effort to get an hour of intense exercise in, every 48 hours of my life.

This project is inspired by the American College of Sports Medicine’s Exercise is Medicine initiative and my own fitness tracker, which reminds me that I was in my overall best shape three years ago this month when I was training for my first Boston Marathon and taking no prisoners. When I exercise every other day of my life, my body responds by functioning really well most of the time. (Eating well to fuel your body is also a priority, so you’ll see quite a few posts about the “food” side of the equation, too.)

In its first year, Every48 was published five days a week at 10:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific time. In 2015 I’m posting less frequently, but often reposting popular content via the Wellness Playbook’s Facebook page. I’ll be getting back to regular posting later this year and will be expanding the blog to include more information and inspiration on all manners of lifestyle improvement—though you could do much worse than to start a regular exercise habit right now…and keep going!
