Gratitude Week: Exercise makes us feel so good that we really miss it when we don’t do it.

The title of this blog is dedicated to today, Wednesday, November 26, 2014. It’s the first day all year that the blog is coming out later than its normally-scheduled 10 a.m. Pacific time slot. And that’s because we just crawled off a redeye flight from…wait for it…Maui! And I was exhausted. And so I went off to sleep. And the alarm rang for me to get up at 9:30 to write the blog.

And..I…pressed…snooze!

Yes, indeed, this was me a short hour or two ago. But then I started dreaming: "Gotta write the blog..." (Image courtesy of photostock at FreeDigitalPhotos.net)

And then I dreamt that the blog was late (which, of course, it was), and that got me up out of bed a couple of hours later (which, of course, is right now).

Here’s the point: When I exercise regularly – when I do anything regularly that’s “good for me” – I really, really miss it when I don’t do it. It gnaws at me. I think about it all day. I say, whoa, I really need to get that workout in.

That’s what a regular routine does. It pulls me back when I stray – and it does it quickly.

Just another fitness-related benefit that I’m grateful for in this Thanksgiving Week. Now get out there and get your pre-turkey/Tofurkey workout on.
