Sometimes, the world just goes nuts. Exercise anyway. That’s my message for today.
Take reps, like a great basketball player who shoots 300 practice shots a day. Practice moving whenever you need to get away from stress. Practice taking care of yourself even when you don’t want to.
Life is not a straight line – it’s a series of ebbs and flows. There are sometimes amazing highs. There are sometimes incredible lows. One of the things I look to during the low moments is humor.
If you’re in that space today, or any day, may I suggest some humor. Tig Notaro did an amazing comedy set at Largo in Los Angeles a few days after being diagnosed with breast cancer. I can’t imagine how the darkness of that moment settled inside her as she prepared for her show.
What happened next was nothing short of amazing. Look it up on iTunes or Amazon. It’s called “Tig Notaro: Live.” (The link goes to the Amazon page.) Short “i,” as in “I want to live.”
More from me tomorrow. For today, keep on keeping on – and know that whatever it is that is hurting your heart today (if that’s the space you’re in), this too shall pass. And you’ll be crazy healthy and strong on the other side, because of the decision you made right now to get your workout on.
Yesterday’s #every48 workout: A one-hour swim workout (30 minutes of drills, 30 minutes of speed intervals) with my triathlon swim class.
