Exercising in Seattle every 48 hours means that sometimes, you’re going to need to go outside to get a workout in. My favorite Gore-Tex jacket was purchased at REI’s outlet website for about a third of its original price. I have a collection of full-length exercise pants – and a waterproof shell I can put over them on really wet days.
What I really have is answers to questions. “What if it’s raining?” Gore-Tex. “What if it’s cold?” Layers. “What if it’s icy?” Gym membership (I recommend working out indoors in icy or overly windy conditions). “What if I cannot get out of my house under any circumstances?” Workout videos – you can buy DVDs (BeachBody has a ton of great ones) or you can stream tons of exercise videos online.
There is always a choice. The only choice I have removed from my life in 2014 is the choice to not exercise hard, for about an hour, at least once every 48 hours. That’s the one choice that is off the table this year.
Yesterday’s #every48 workout: Ironically, after all that weather talk, I decided I didn’t want to run in the rain, so I ran on the gym treadmill. 4.5 miles total with 4 x 1/2 mile repeats at tempo pace.
